Build your Baby's Brain this Christmas...
As the nights draw in and the festivities begin, you may be wondering what is suitable for you to take your small baby to. Sometimes it feels silly, with them having little to no understanding of the great St Nicolas yet, but you still want to find something to mark the occasion. Well, fear not - I have come up with a few suggestions to get you going...
Christmas Lights Switch on around Herefordshire
One of the best things about Christmas is the lights - it's possibly one of the most incredible sensory experiences for your baby! (The photos above were taken at the Ross-on-Wye switch on, and there's a photo of me and my posers!)
Not only that, most are accompanied by other festivities, including Christmas Fayres, Santa, and the sights, smells, and hustle and bustle are all a great opportunity to share these experiences with your baby.
Check out the dates below for the remainder of the lights switch ons around the county:
Hay-on-Wye - Friday 29th November, 5-8pm (Their Winter Festival is running all weekend which is free, except for the events that you want to see)
Leominster - Saturday 30th November, 2-6.30pm
Queenswood Country Park and Arboretum - Saturday 7th December, 4-5pm
You can find out more details about all of these here.
Come along to the Baby Brain Christmas Party
Take the chance to meet and celebrate your baby's first Christmas alongside other mums and babies of a similar age... the party is open to all parents of precrawlers, and previous attendees of any of the classes, giving us an opportunity to catch up, reflect and reconnect!
The party is taking place at the Prince of Wales pub, so within walking distance of town for locals, but with also ample parking space for those of you coming from further afield.
For the parents attending, included is a 2 course meal and a mocktail on arrival, and for the babies there will be a small gift, Christmas photoshoot with Charlie Summers (plus £5 discount from any photos after), and Christmas sensory play included!
You can book your tickets to the party here.
Visit one (or some!) of the National Trust sites
Not only is getting out and about great for your baby's senses (see here), but each of the National Trusts sites has geared up to Christmas in a different way, meaning that you can enjoy and explore a multitude of traditions, which is great fun as a parent of children who might not quite yet understand it all!

Spectacle of Light at Sudeley Castle
You can totally understand why I've added this one to the list - think lights, think contrast, think smells, sounds and sights: Other than being in awe as an adult, and enjoying a wander round, feeling the magic of the castle as it is lit up, it is incredible for your baby's senses.

Perrygrove's Traditional Christmas
This is something that I've personally loved taking my children to over the years... the atmosphere is wonderful, and you get the full on Santa experience complete with him coming down the chimney to deliver some gifts and talk to the children. You also get unlimited rides on the two trains with the option to add on a Treasure Hunt, something that older siblings particularly enjoy.
